This series has been really good so far. In fact, one of the best running in fact. So to say that this has been the best issue so far is really saying something.
The story is magnificently layered, and despite its underlying complexity is very easy to follow. And as opposed to Loeb's writing, the shock value presented by Kyle and Yost in X-Force is relevant and easy to buy into.
It was nice to catch up to some of the former New X-Men, especially considering their ties to Elixir and X-23. Unfortunately, they probably would have chosen better circumstances with which to make guest appearances. The last few moments of the book were incredibly tense. I found myself even flipping the pages faster so I could see what was going to happen.
Some quick characterizations that I would like to point out:
Vanisher: who would have thought that this guy would become one of the most interesting characters on X-Force. While not by his choosing, he has become a vital, if not terrorized member of the squad.
Cyclops: while not actually a member of the team, he is still it's driving force. And I have just recently realized something, he is becoming just like Xavier. Up front he comes across as noble and a hero to the mutant cause, but behind the scenes he is taking action by any means necessary. In a sense, he is almost playing God. And becoming a real d!ck to boot!
All in all, this is a great series that you should be reading!
