Enter Kaine

Last issue left us with Kaine (clone gone bad) holding Spider-Man by the neck. Kaine is a formidable foe and Spidey has his hands full.

Through the battle banter we learn that Kaine's DNA is breaking down, and the only one who can save him is Dr. Ryder (aka Raptor). The fight finally ends with Kaine tossing a taxi cab to distract Spider-Man while he gets away.

This story arc is really getting exciting. Again, during the story telling, there are flash backs to Ben Reilly's early days with Dr. Damon Ryder. They are illustrated separately by Luke Ross and Rick Magyar, giving the flow of the panels the feel of going back in time. Very nicely done.

Of course the art for the current time line is fantastic. Artist Marco Checchetto does a wonderful job especially with Kaine.

The story leaves us with Raptor holding Peter's best friend and his three pretty cousins hostage, or course with the intent to burn them alive. Because of this situation, Peter may be forced to reveal his secret identity. Guess we'll have to wait for next issue to find out what happens.

A great read, and now I am very, very curious as to how this is all going to end.
