Eternals is earning its place back in Marvel's Pantheon

Marvel's current incarnation of the Eternals is hitting its stride in this current series. I will admit to being not entirely enthused and perhaps a bit bewildered with the first few issues, but with issue #'s 4, and now this! Issue #5 has that rare quality in a comic where you feel the pain and are left with an emotional impact. Think Amazing Spider-Man (Vol 1) #33 where Spidey is pinned by a collapsed building, think X-Men (Vol 1)#137 at the death of Jean Grey

The pieces fall into place and the chips are way down for the heroes, and the writing comes together and is compelling. The art, stunning. The team of the Knauf brothers and Daniel Acuna is potent. The Eternals are back in prime form. If you haven't jumped in yet, make sure you take a look at this series.

The Eternal, since their grand explosion on the scene in 1976 from the imagination of Jack Kirby, fell into obscurity for a long time, with one uninspired 12-part series in the mid-80's. This 2008 series seems to be a companion piece to the excellent 2006 series by Gaiman and Romita Jr.
