For Shame, Marvel...

What a great idea for a book. What poor execution. This approach could easily address everyones gripe that there are too many people on X-Teams, or even too many teams period. I understand why there are so many (aside from the obvious monetary reasons). What are all the rest of the mutants doing? This book could become an ongoing series outlining what the mutants not on teams, or not currently active are doing if it was better. I know, I know, this IS supposed to be book about what each individual mutant is doing. But let me tell you, what they are doing is stupid and insignificant! I mean how many stories can you possibly tell about mutants doubting themselves? Okay, we get it, they are unsure! Lets break this issue down story by story:

Story One: Kill or Cure (which is actually the fourth part of a Mistique versus Iceman story.) This story sucks! What on earth is going on here? I mean seriously, what is the plot? Mystique keeps trying to kill Bobby and he keeps coming back for more and I mean that literally. He stands in front of her and asks her to shoot him! Iceman could be the most powerful hero in the Marvel Universe. Instead, the writers cast him as a pathetic moron, decade after decade.

Story Two: Mercury Mercury feeling sorry for herself. Can I have my money back please.....

Story Three: Work It Out Nightcrawler feeling sorry for himself. If you need me I'll be in the kitchen with my head in the oven. ENOUGH ALREADY!!!! Nobody wants to buy a comic that is filled with story, upon story of self loathing! We could split these characters up and start a new X-Team called the Emo-Squad. They could wander the pages of the book wallowing in their own misery!

Again, a great premise completely ruined because the book is just intended to bring in quick and easy revenue instead of furthering the X storylines. It genuinely saddens me to think that so much creative opportunity is being wasted in the name of the dollar.
