This was one fantastic read! Dedicated to the men and women who protect and serve in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The story is about Flash Thompson, who is called upon to serve in Iraq. In his service he earns the Medal of Honor. As he recounts his heroic story, the story parallels many of the exploits of Spider-Man who is Flash’s inspiration.
This is by far one of the best stories I have ever read in Amazing Spider-Man. It gave me insight into many of the exploits and perils that our men and women must go through to help us keep our freedom. The story and artwork give literally brought a lump to my throat.
At the end of the book, I found out why. The story is a true rendition of many of the exploits and sacrifices of a real life hero; Jeff Guerin. The writers and artists took their queue from Jeff, and crafted one of the absolute best comic books I have ever read. If you only read one comic book in your life, it needs to be Amazing Spider-Man 574.
Thanks Marvel, for taking the time to tell the story of the brave men and women who are fighting for our freedom. This was truly a great monument to them.
