Can you tell an android from a human? That is the question that Deckard and Resch must answer. Deckard understand that no test is 100% accurate but he trusts his method for it has not failed him yet. Dick elaborates on the detection methodology and philosophies behind these intricate tests to allow us to understand the results of these tests to ourselves. After all we are measuring the empathic level of the individual when responding to hypothetical situations. We learn about ourselves as much as from the test subjects, and Deckard finally starts to question his own humanity.
