This has been a really slow news week so far.
I really don't have a clue what to expect Sunday at this point.
Option A: Bemy is a genius and has intentionally held back whatever the offense is going to be to be able to surprise the Eagles with stuff they haven't seen and weren't expecting.
Option B: He's not a complete idiot and can see that we're on pace for record level sacks and getting Sam killed. Knowing that he's going to make some changes this week to who plays where on the line and what plays he calls so there's more screens and short pass options or maybe some 12 personnel sets with 2 tight ends to help out the tackles.
Option C: Run the ball more but even though that worked last year against the Eagles, it also took 4 or 5 turnovers to do the trick mixed in. Unfortunately on paper the Eagles made a lot of changes to get better against the run but downgraded the passing defense to do so so now they're 27th in the league against the pass. It feels like trying to run a lot more would be playing into their strength this year.
Option D: Do nothing different and figure this week everything improves just a little from the experience of the last 3 weeks.
I really can't tell whether we should expect to win 21-17 or 35 - 17. I've got that feeling a defensive score will be mixed in whatever the final victory total is.
I wouldn't be mad to see them try Paul at LG, the rookie at center, and any switch on the right side that gets Wylie out of the tackle spot.
I've watched plenty of clips this week of the LG getting abused right back into Sam's face so he couldn't step up and with the center not looking much better while the tackles allowed outside pressure leaving no escape route. If we have to suck, lets suck with our rookies getting their learn on instead of other peoples castoffs showing why their teams let them walk.
We've run 182 offensive plays
We've only run 20 plays from under centre (11% - league average last year was 32.5, KC ran at 21%)
Of those 20 under centre, we've had 16 rushes, so an 80% rushing rate when under centre, league average 69% (71 yards, 4 First downs, 1 2PT conv, one negative play when running down the clock)
And we've had 4 passes (2/4, 39 yards, 2 First Downs, INT)
It seems pretty clear, If Sam's under center it's most likely a run. I expect that to change this week.
