I have "Robotika #3 & 4" that I would like to add to the DB however I know that comics with the ampersand cannot be searched in the DB.

See "Orcs in Space #1 & 2" both B and C variants and "Black Coat: Or Give Me Death #1 & 2"

Is there a way to get this in there so that it's searchable? I notice that the A version of Orcs in Space #1 & 2 is just listed as #1. Should I do that?

I started a thread here: https://www.comiccollectorlive.com/Forum/default.aspx?g=posts&t=57407 last month. Steve said they will be working on it, should I wait until it's fixed?

Any thoughts, please?

When I fixed Orcs in Space #1, I changed it to "1 and 2" in place of "1 & 2." Looks like someone changed it further to just "1".

For your current question, I would replace the "&" with "and".

Cool, anyway you can fix the B and C variants? Daydreaming And the "Black Coat: Or Give Me Death #1 & 2" Big Grin

That's kind of what I thought but I wanted to make sure that was good to do. Plus I think that it would be nice to have a thread here for anyone else wondering what the protocol was.

As mentioned in the previous thread, I couldn't figure out how to change the B and C variants of Orcs in Space. I also can't remember how I fixed the A variant, because I can't access the Black Coat issue. I think it had something to do with maybe there was an Orcs in Space issue for sale. Maybe I got in that way. Not the case with the Black Coat issue.

I tried putting the B and C of Orcs in Space into my owned collection thinking I could access it that way. No dice, and now they are permanently in my Owned folder and can't be removed.

Update: I was able to fix Black Coat: Or Give Me Death #1 & 2. There was another issue with a similiar problem that the approvers were discussing, and they were able to access the book through a publisher search. I tried the same thing, but searched one of the names in the credits. This pulled up a new search result list that had the Black Coat issue labeled as "1.5" (as it would have been in the software results), so I was able to Change Request from there.

Unfortunately, Orcs in Space has no credits listed. Not even the variant cover artist is listed in the credits, which should be the bare minimum when adding a variant into the database.

I have now fixed Orcs in Space 1 B and C variants by a little jiggery-pokery with changing 1A to #9 to get it out of the way at the forefront of the series listing. However, this didn’t immediately solve the problem. It was now showing #3 as the start of the series. So I surmised that selecting one of the non-problematic issues might lead me to the the two anomalies in the series. Using the Issue Jump feature I selected 1 and it opened up 1 & 2B. As discussed previously, it was a case of omitting the ampersand and replacing with and. Then repeating the action for 1 & 2C.
I’ve left the 1A issue as that, instead of changing it to 1 and 2 A, not being sure if that would just repeat the original setback.

So, all being well, everyone should be able to search, edit, list and sell the danged things.

That is terrific, Winston! Applause Wow, thanks for doing that. I know it wasn't easy.

Yes Winston, well played. I like how these glitches are teaching us to be amateur website backdoor hackers. Didn't think that would be part of the job description.
