Stefano Casselli is quickly becoming one of my favourite artists. His work on Secret Warriors has been magnificent, and was god-like on this particular issue. Both he, and writer Jonathon Hickman make a great team.
Secret Warriors continues to be the most complexly layered book on my pull list. It is odd that I would find this much interest in a book that deals more in innuendo than action. I am a classic action guy. Give me Thor punching some baddie through an apartment building and I am a happy camper. This book is a very intelligent read though, which makes up for any lack in action.
In this particular issue, we are lead a little deeper down the proverbial “rabbit hole”, learning about new traitors. We also gain a little more insight into the secret Russian agency known as Leviathan. In particular we meet a new character who is re-animated after being frozen in stasis, Orion. Now, I feel as though I should know this character, but I have to admit that I looked him up and couldn’t find a thing. If nothing else, he is freaking huge!!!
The final page leaves the reader hanging, as Nick Fury receives a text message that is certain to land him in trouble. But you know Nicky, he is always one step ahead of everybody else.
This was my vote as top read of the week. A top notch read to say the least!
