Not having read any other books related to the Days Missing, but having read plenty of Phil Hester's work I have to say that it is in this series that Hester has his best voice. The series also benefits from quiet a roster of artists from Alex Ross for covers and the interior magic art of David Marquez.
The first issue of what is the second part of the Days Missing series is pure delight from both the writing, story telling and artistic delivery. There is a blend of Secret History and sword & sorcery imagery that is a sure hit for comics fans that are attracted to this blend in themes.
