Great Writing, Weird Art

Joe Kelly comes on the scene here with the beginning of a great story. Loved the intro panel, and the story got me right into reading this book.

However, after a couple of pages, the art work began to wear on me. Chris Bachalo did the pencils, and I just can’t take the distorted comical look of Peter Parker. Also, the exaggerated mouth openings really bother me. That is just my personal opinion, but it got on my nerves.

The fight scene is really bloody, and I was getting worried about Spider-Man. It seemed that he just couldn’t get in a good lick on the new Hammer Head. You’ll have to read the story as I don’t want to spoil it for you, but the fight scene is really, really good.

I think it is pretty cool what they did with Hammer Head, and I am intrigued by the villain Mr. Negative. It is an interesting story line, with art work that you really have to get used to. Once you get past the art, you will enjoy this book.
