Hooked Me

I don't own many Daredevil books and have never regularly collected his series. I love the character, but have found myself consistently let down by the stories he is involved in. I wanted to check out the Shadowland series however, being a fan of most of the characters appearing in the series. And I figured, can't very well follow the series without checking out the main characters book! So I broke down and bought issue 509, and let me tell you I am glad I did!

Without following the back story, I was able to understand everything that is and has been going on in Daredevil's life based on a couple of well placed hints. Andy Diggle's storytelling abilities feel genuine and well planned. As far as the art goes, Roberto De La Torre seems to have been born to draw this book. His gritty style fits the "underground" feel of the story like a glove.

Friends close to Daredevil begin to suspect a plot within the greater drama unfolding in Hell's Kitchen. No matter how much Matt Murdock has changed, there is no way he would send Hand Ninjas out to kill Foggy Nelson and Dakota North. Throw Electra, Luke Cage and Iron Fist into the mix and you have the makings of an old school rumble!

I'm going to follow this series closely now, and am most likely going to start dedicating myself to picking up back issues. Thanks for burning another hole in my wallet Man Without Fear!
