I'm Thankful for Owning This Comic!

Every year on Thankgiving, I usually have 3 traditions: watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, eat more dressing than Turkey, and pull out my copy of POWER PACK #19 to devour with my meal.

The POWER kids are trying to wing their way through Thanksgiving dinner while keeping their family together since their mom's in the hospital. Katie, the youngest of the Power Pack, decides to throw together a Thanksgiving dinner and invite a various asundry of Marvel characters that don't really have a place to go for the holidays. You'll find Morlocks, X-Men and more making appearances in this Thanksgiving tale.

Oh sure, there's some action, but the emotion in this comic has yet to be duplicated in any I own as far as I'm concerned. The entire story is very touching, and resonates with me as an adult to this day. It reminds me to not only be thankful for what I have, but remember that there are those that could always use some help...even if it is just a Thanksgiving dinner and some sweeet rolls.

Last year, I volunteered at the Little Rock Salvation Army to help serve Thanksgiving dinner to many homeless in the city. I know it might sound silly, but I look back to this one single comic story as an inspiration to help others who don't always have the means to help themselves.

If you don't own this book, grab a copy and share it with your kids. For this reader it holds up as one of the most human and memorable stories I've ever read.
