Insincere

It is funny how one character can go from pathetic, to cool to ridiculous so quickly. I have never been a fan of Cyclops. I've always thought he was a pathetic whiner with a one dimensional power. So as you could well imagine, I was impressed by his shift to unflappable leader. But I have to admit, his over the top portrayal as a "balls to the wall" leader is starting to grate on my nerves.

Nobody, and I mean nobody, puts up with his tone for too long a time. And when you think of characters like Wolverine, Emma Frost and Magneto...well, there is no way they remain subservient to this paper prince! I know Dodson has been drawing Wolverine with scowls on his face every time Scott speaks, but come on! I could rattle off countless examples of Wolverine almost killing Scott over something as simple as forgetting to put his beer in the fridge for him.

Now I admit that this could all be some rouse to thicken a secret plot around Cyclops. and if it is, I will be the first one to apologize. I just find that unlikely, considering the main storyline has nothing to do with Scott's character development.

When all was said and done, I thought that most of the X-peeps acted like robots, not enough sincerity was given to Nightcrawler's death and Hope just plain bugs me. Not a good synopsis of what is supposed to be the "Big Event."

Maybe issue 525will be better....
