Okay, so there has been a lot of hype surrounding this book, so I decided to go back and pick up the first 3 issues.
After reading issue one the whole way through, I can safely say that this was awesome and looks like its going to be another fantastic story by Mark Millar.
The writting is has so many small, awesome little refernces to comic runs and creators who were around during the time this books is set (the 80s) which made it a lot of fun to read.
The dialouge was humourous and enjoyable, while maintaining that realistic tone to it as well, which made it all feel really natural while reading.
The artwork was brilliant, absolutaly nothing wrong with the art in this book at all, I really dig the style of Tommy Lee Edwards, its really different and unique, it certainly suits this style of book.
However, I cant imagine it suiting any other book in the Marvel Universe. It is very unique, and kind of limits itself that way.
But great for this book!
The only worry about this book which I had was the fact that the story moved forward too quickly and it felt like things were happening all far too fast and it was quite overwheling to take in at points. You had to wait to try and get your head around what was going on in some parts.
Although, then again this is totally understandable, as everything does get explained in future issues, and it is only a 6 part mini series, so I guess they do have to tell the story fast, they cant afford to move slowly on a mini series because of the short space they have to tell the story.
So all in all, a really brilliant comic book, but I just cant help but feel it all happened to quickly.
It will read better in trade, once all the issues have been collected together!
But like I say, good nonetheless!
