It's a tough one to get into

I totally dig Fred Van Lente's true horror take on the what was a very comical zombie franchise that we have here. But I'm not sure if this is overkill. By that I mean, this feels like it's taking itself too seriously and trying to be a bit too clever. The dialogue is clever but in some places it's a little hard to keep up because you get the feeling it's being a little too clever and bordering on complicated. I felt that a few times here. But all in all it was clever dialogue and it worked okay, but I still think it took itself a little to seriously and that made it a little too clever.

The plot is great though, it is also clever and complicated but unlike parts of the dialogue, Van Lente managed to keep a grip on it and it's turning out too be great!

This issue mainly focuses on The Hood's role in this story and it's pretty awesome stuff, with mention of the Sorcerer Supreme. And there is a big face off between the Midnight Sons and The Hoods gang at the end, with the issue ending on a bang shocker!

Good artwork as always, no complaints there. Kev Walker does a good job.
