There is definitely some parallel between Twilight and Mercy Thompson, but no romance is in the offering in this series. Mercy is very much her own person with no apparent need to engage a romantic partner in her adventures. We have the Vampire-Werewolf dynamics but the story is more adventure-centred than Twilight. I'm liking this series more each issue I read. I think the art could use some tuning, but Mercy is drawn with care; the artists knows better than to mess with the principal character.
