Knowing is Half the Battle!

Feeling a little nostalgic, I decided to break out a few old issues of ACTION FORCE, the UK's version of G.I.Joe: A Real American Hero, and write a review on COMIC COLLECTOR LIVE. I can't remember where I picked these up when I was younger, but I always enjoyed reading them and collecting them because they published a story in every issue featuring the characters I enjoyed watching on TV and the action figures I loved to play with growing up. Plus the stories and artwork seemed a little grittier than their American counterparts (which anyone who has read the UK version of TRANSFORMERS can probably attest to). Growing up, I always felt more scared for ACTION FORCE than G.I.JOE.

In this issue, we have a story written by SIMON FURMAN called "Gun Boat." ACTION FORCE are doing what they do best...stopping DESTRO and COBRA from hooking up and completing an arms deal. The second story was published in an American G.I.JOE comic, so I had read that one.

These UK ACTION FORCE issues are a lot of fun for the simplest of reasons: they're fun to read and remind of a time when the lines between good and bad were as black and white as pages in THE WALKING DEAD. You can find them relatively cheap in the states and usually in the magazine section due to their larger format size.

You can read more of my comic reviews (and write your own) right here on ComicCollectorLive.com, your #1 site for cataloguing, researching and collecting your favorite comic books!
