Letdown Central.

I found Fear Itself #4, what might be considered the middle act of the 7-part limited series of Marvel's big summer event, had about as much excitement and super-heroic thrills as an episode of "Jersey Shore."

In this issue?

Thor gets tossed out of Asgard. Thor gets ran out of Broxton by the only redneck living in Kansas. Iron Man smells like garbage from throwing up in his armor. Noone's bothered to cover up Bucky's body yet. Black Widow cries. Nick Fury hugs Black Widow. Steve Rogers becomes Captain America, and arms himself with a gun that must be loaned to him by the Punisher. Odin is a jerk. Thor confronts the Serpent. Thor gets his ass handed to him. Again.

Yeah, Thor's part in this bit-play has been relegeted to something akin to WORF in "STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION"...where guest stars come on the show, and basically beat the $%&* out of him for the entire episode.

Captain America's lack of emotion shown after the "second death" of Bucky makes absolutely ZERO sense to me. Steve Rogers loved this kid like a son. And you're telling me, he's so driven by duty and obligation that we can't even get a single panel of mourning the loss out of him?

If FEAR ITSELF doesn't begin to take a radical change of direction by the next issue, you can bet it's going to be added to that list of "DISAPPOINTING SUMMER EVENTS" somewhere inbetween "FINAL CRISIS" and "WORLD WAR HULK". Matt Fraction has performed what I would consider the closest thing to a vasectomy to the MARVEL UNIVERSE characters, making them appear weak, unorganized, boring and worse? Cardboard. The title of this book includes a human emotion: FEAR...and this book's LACK OF emotion far overshadows feeling good about purchasing it.

Now. Should you buy this book? Well, if you don't, you'll be missing an issue from your set. Other than that? Can't say that you should. IN fact, I'd dare say you go find a copy of MEGA MAN #3 if you want a book with alot of potential collectibilty. After stopping in 5 comic shops in 3 states, I STILL had no luck in finding a copy.

But BOTH FEAR ITSELF #4 and MEGA MAN #3 are available on ComicCollectorLive.com for purchase. Click "Library", type in "FEAR ITSELF" or "MEGA MAN", and go spend some money.
