Put this on your 'Must Read' list!
Ever since it's relaunch, Marvel's Thor has been a breed apart. This has been a sore point for some fans, who liked the character's prior integration into the world of the Avengers and such, but has suited me just fine.
Thor, after all, is the stuff of myth. Most of Marvel's other characters are made from science-fiction. It has always been an uneasy fit for me, in the same way that I never felt that Doctor Strange integrated well.
That said, Thor's relaunch has been a double pronged approach from Marvel. There is the regular series (Volume 3) in all its excellence. Separately, there have been a series of related one-shots. They are linked in tone and content, but what is odd about it is that Marvel has not promoted the connection between these books. Thor: Age of Thunder; Thor: Man of War; Thor: Reign of Blood, and now Thor: God Size, all penned by Matt Fraction.
This 'series' has a Tales of Asgard feel to it, but with Thor having a dark side and the powers of a God, not just another really strong guy (like Hulk) who can control lightning (like Storm). Thor deserves to be bigger than Marvel has ever allowed him, and this book continues in that good direction.
