As friends and family clean out and pack up Clark Kent's apartment Ron Troupe reflects on what a great loss the Daily Planet has suffered with Kent's death. Asking Perry White about filling Clark's vacant spot at work, he is told that if he thinks he's good enough to fill Clark's shoes he'll have to prove it. He'll have to write an article and big and as powerful as Clark's first article for the Planet - an exclusive story on Superman shortly after his first appearance.
Ron decides that he must get the exclusive story on the new Cyborg Superman and goes to Washington D.C. where he thinks he can get a chance to interview Maxwell Lord. During his interview a terrorist group attacks the White House and Cyborg Superman saves the day.
Ron's exclusive scoop lands him the job and desk once occupied by Clark Kent.
