Between the two friends, one collects ghost stories, but the other is a skeptic. The skeptic agrees to sleep the night in a 'haunted' house to prove there's nothing to it. The caretaker makes him comfortable, and the skeptic reports back to his friend, who shows him the obituary for the caretaker from the newspaper...100 years ago.

A writer replaces his broken typewriter, but the new machine hammers out messages from an unseen writer, an urgent request for help. He takes action and aids a man who is minutes from death, who turns out to be another writer who recently sold his old typewriter.
