The Batman must fight off Axeman and a group of thugs, who have been commissioned to kill him by the mysterious Midnight. The Man-bat continues a trend of villains who seem to be acting out of character and under someone else's control, stealing mystic artifacts. Batman pays a visit to confront April Clarkson, and both are surprised by an unexpected attraction.
