"The Black Dragons"
After Prince Conn's apparent death, King Conan's elite guards, the Black Dragons, troll the marshes looking for clues to the perpetrators. The King recovers from his poisoning while Queen Zenobia tries to hold together the difficult affairs of state. There is a mystical beast afoot in the marshes, thanks to Baron Maloric and his wizard, who seek a slow, cruel end for the King.
"Son of the Barbarian King"
Prince Conn did not meet death on his ill-fated trip, but nearly so. He is gathered up by slave traders, and sold on the block in Corinthia to a noble. He is freed by a sympathetic woman who pays for his freedom with her life. Conn vows vengeance for her death and his humiliation.
