"Star Burst"

Mar-Vell is unconscious, suffering a dream of our solar system being obliterated. Rick Jones has brought him to the care of Dr. Don Blake, but when Mar-Vell awakes, he is oddly charged with energy and seemingly mad. Dr. Blake calls upon his alter ego, Thor to deal with Captain Marvel.

Mar-Vell explains that when Thanos plotted to destroy our Sun (Avengers Annual #7), he had started a process that continued to this day, and that since Mar-Vell's powers were photonic, he would soon absorb too much solar energy and go nova himself. He pleads with Thor to kill him before it's too late.
