"Conan the Cimmerian, Part 4 of 7: The Skrae"
Conan has cast his lot. He has decided to stand not with his former fellow Aesir soldiers, but with his former Cimmerian love, Caollan. The hunting party, after having their fighters beaten and losing their quarry, now resorts to supernatural means to catch the fleeing couple. Olva summons the monstrous Skrae, and Conan is reminded of his grandfather Connacht's first experience of City dwellers, full of superstition and lacking honor, which ended on Connacht's being betrayed into slavery as a galley oarsman.
