"What If Phoenix Had Not Died?"
The Phoenix is an immortal elemental force residing in the form of mutant telepath, Jean Grey.
The Shi'ar have placed Jean on trial for crimes against the universe committed by Phoenix. The X-Men do their utmost to defend their team-mate, but all are conquered by Lilandra's Imperial Guard.
The punishment is psychic lobotomy, relieving Jean of all her powers to ensure that the Phoenix force never again threatens the universe at large.
Time passes mundanely until an intervention against Galactus leads to the rebirth of Phoenix.
At first Jean copes with her divine power level, but her cravings for consumption of stellar energy to replenish those levels initiate the onset of Dark Phoenix, setting off a chain reaction of events that eventually end in epic tragedy.
"Kree Encounter!"
On the surface of Uranus the renegade Eternals are enjoying the spoils from their pillaged Kree outpost.
Using advanced technological knowledge, a spaceship is constructed to return the rebels Earthwards to wreak revenge on their kindred who sent them into exile.
As the Eternals blast off, an armada of Kree ships instantaneously drop out of hyper-space. When warning messages are ignored, the Kree react violently and decisively, reducing the jury-rigged craft to junk, scattering its passengers to the space winds.
