"The Space Phantom"
Reprinted from Avengers (1963) #2.
The Avengers convene in the library of Tony Stark's mansion, and are approached by an alien who knows many of their secrets. Worse, his power is to assume the identity of any individual, and during that time, the victim is prisoner in Limbo. Thus, the Space Phantom strikes the Avengers, sowing dissent in their ranks. Rick Jones is on hand and discovers the plot, and with the help of the Teen Brigade, informs the others, but not before an all-out brawl among the members of the Avengers takes place. Ultimately, the Space Phantom is defeated, but the fighting has left bitterness in the Hulk's mouth, and he departs, fed up with being on a team. 22 pages (X-435).

"The Origin of Daredevil"

Meet Matthew Murdock, an 8-year-old living with his widowed father, washed-out boxer 'Battling' Jack Murdock. Matt is a brilliant student, and keeps himself fit. Tragedy strikes as Matt saves an old man from being run down by a truck delivering radioactive chemicals. The truck crashes, spilling waste over Matt's eyes. He is blinded, but his other senses are mysteriously heightened. As he grows to a young adult, he adapts to his powers and takes on the persona of Daredevil, and begins a career in a law office with Foggy Nelson. Meanwhile, Battling Murdock wants to make his son proud, and wins a fight that organized crime boss, the Fixer, had demanded he throw. The Fixer has Matt's father killed. Daredevil crushes the Fixer's operation. 23 pages.

"The Human Torch and the Sub-Mariner Meet!!!"

Namor is furious with the surface world after his attempts to aid America in the war are met with fear and hostility. He declares a vendetta against the surface world. His friend, Betty Dean has warned him that the Human Torch has been sent to stop him. Namor continues his rampage and is confronted by the Torch at the George Washington Bridge. Namor retreats to the safety of the Hudson River. 10 pages.
