"Quest"
*Ren tends the lighthouse in storm-blighted Mer, in the city of Octopon. He rescues a ship-wrecked sailor, only to discover the man is his father Primus, former King of Octopon, and long thought dead. His father reveals Ren's destiny before succumbing to the storm. Ren must find a man named Alomar to save Mer from the scourge of Dark Water and the Pirate King Bloth. Ren earns an ally, the monkey-bird, Niddler, and finds his way to Alomar, who is anything but a man. Alomar shares the rhyme which hints at the quest, but Bloth and his hoards descend on them before Ren can make sense of it all.
