Item Biography
*A helmet from the Middle Ages, Melchiorre's Burgonet, was reputed to have the mystical power of preserving the life of its wearer. Hitler looted it from Rome during WWII, and, at the close of the War, a Russian bureau, led by the precocious Miss Varvara, looted it from Berlin. She choose an ill-fated sailor, Iosif to guard the treasure on its U-boat trip to Moscow. The sub met with disaster, and disappeared from the history books in 1948. Now the BPRD has been called to investigate the wreck of a sub in the Norwegian Sea. Agent Abe Sapien is uniquely suited for the job. He locates the ship, loaded with dead sailors, along with the helmet, and returns it to the ship. He doesn't return alone, though, as the un-dead Iosif who guarded the helmet in the watery tomb comes for his property. *Source: Warlock
**On one of his first B.P.R.D. operations, agent Abe Sapien leads a naval crew to a sunken Soviet U-boat to retrieve an ancient relic. What he uncovers is a paranormal crime scene, with a tanker full of dead men and secrets that should've remained buried in the deep.
Written by Mike Mignola and John Arcudi, and featuring the chilling artwork of Peter Snejbjerg (B.P.R.D.: War on Frogs), The Abyssal Plain explores another early Abe solo adventure, in the spirit of Abe Sapien: The Drowning and Abe Sapien: The Haunted Boy. **Source: darkhorse.com
