**The path through history of two artifacts, the sword of Hyperborea and the vril crystals, is tracked through 1878, where they are discovered in the lost underground city of Urrasan by an expedition led by Lord Wellington. The dark events which follow Wellington home has him seek assistance from the Witchfinder Edward Grey, who must deal with the threat of vampirism inadvertently uncorked by Lord Wellington's expedition. The artifacts are stolen from Grey by the Heliopic Brotherhood of Ra, only to reemerge four decades later in World War I. Adventurer Graf Ling De Gotha is on the hunt for the Brotherhood, and she follows a lead to their operation in Brussels. When she finally tracks them down to their lair, it is unclear who has been hunting whom. The Brotherhood knows De Gotha's secret nature, but that does not make them ready to deal with the danger of her curse, particularly when she wields the artifacts.
