Thor receives the verdict of Odin: for the crime of weilding his might without valor, Thor must seach the cosmos for Galactus. Balder vows to protect the Earth in Thor's absence, but Karnilla still plots to have Balder as her own. She has Haag fashion a voodoo doll. Loki, who is with Karnilla, sees opportunity, and seized the doll, striking Balder a mortal blow. Thor requests that Odin let him visit Earth once more before the quest begins, and Odin grants it. Thor learns of Balder's condition, and changes to Dr. Don Blake to treat him. That is when Loki pounces, seizing the cane that is also Mjolnir.
