Panic in the Sky!: Second Strike begins with the mighty Metron's defeat at the hands of Brainiac. When Orion and Lightray learn of Metron's subjugation they decide to take the fight directly to War World to save their comrade, but soon find their own defeat at the hands of Lady Maxima and Matrix.
Realizing that even the New Gods can't stand against the combined superior might of Brainiac, Warworld, and Maxima, Superman begins recruiting a super-powered army in order to launch a pre-emptive strike against Brainiac before he can make it to Earth.
