About Masters of the Universe (Commemorative Series)
The Masters of the Universe Commemorative Series by Hasbro was a line of action figures meant to pay homage to the original line of the same name from the early 1980's.
These figures were produced to look and feel similar to the original line, with the exception of the outer box denoting the Commemorative line. This set of figures was made and directed solely for die-hard Masters of the Universe collectors, as only a limited number of each figure were made and noted on the outer package.
The inner figure was carded, and came with accessories and a mini-comic to mirror the original figure from the Masters of the Universe line.
While only Battle Cat and Panthor were made in this line as 'vehicles' for the characters, there were no other Commemorative playsets or vehicles made for this line.
Most of the items in this line were delegated to retail stores while still being targeted towards the collector's market, such as Toys R Us. Retailer JC Penney also carried an exclusive 10-pack of the Commerative Series and 2 5-packs were also produced.
