I was expecting a lot more from this 50th issue of New Avengers, especially what with it's doubled up price tag.
What you got was good, but it was not what I was expecting. I was expecting a huge Dark Avengers vs New Avengers face off, but that's not what we got. We got something else instead which while it was entertaining, dragged on a bit too long and seemed generally pointless to read in the long run.
I was expecting bigger stuff from this issue, but what we got wasnt bad, it was just not what I was expecting in terms of a story.
What was there, was written well I'll admit. Spider-Man was written brilliantly here, I love how Bendis writes him, it's very funny and one panel had me laughing out loud for a good 3 minutes! So it kept me entertained! lol.
The artwork was good, but it's just Billy Tan's laziness annoys me in some issues, this one being a prime example.
He is such a good artist, but he copy and pastes some panels far to often and it gets really annoying and bugs me out. He is a good artist so why can't he just draw new panels instead of just using the same ones about 4 or 5 times in a row every 2 pages.
You did however (on a brighter note) have some single page bits of artwork from artists such as Steve McNiven, David Aja (I think) and Lenil Yu, which was cool to see, as well as many others. Greg Horn's artwork was very lame though, truth be told.
This issue was okay. But nothing special and certainly not worthy to be a celebratory 50th issue.
Issues 48 and 49 were outstanding compared to this..
