Untouchable is a fine example of what the merger of two traditions can create. Untouchable is firmly placed in the tradition of Hindu mythology where demons with clear personalities have lived in the imagination of this ancient culture. Mike Carey and Samit Basu bring the best of the western comic tradition and the Hindu deep mythology to create what amounts to be a great story of love, passion, lust and ultimate redemption. In Vimal we see an outcast from his people and the British that he tries to emulate. I would not be surprise that this duality of cultures has enriched the lives of many but has also brought pain to those rejected souls that can’t live in either world.
With Virgil Comics gone, we have now Dynamite Entertainment and Liquid Comics to bring us the fine work from Indian writers and artists that will enrich our comic reading experience.
