I'm not sure what to make of this book. When I started it I wasn't very impressed. I started with Hudlin's intro which was incredibly unimpressive as he left whole words out of sentences. There was also a point early in the story where the same thing happened. That said, when I picked it up again a couple nights later, I couldn't put it down until I finished it.
There was some over-the-top, not subtle in the least jokes/shots at everything from Bush and the administration to a running "Ms. Jackson" gag. There was also some entertaining social commentary throughout the book. In my mind Hudlin gave us the former and McGruder gave us the latter. When it was the latter, it was great satire. And, as always, Kyle Baker's art was fantastic. So, a bit of a mixed reaction to this book.
