This Ross/Busiak interpretation of Kirby's legacy of characters could be the next major event to hit comics. We all know that Kirby had created many characters for many publishers and many unpublished works came from his fertile imagination. Kirby was also a great world builder and had a consistent vision for his creations. Now Ross/Busiak are applying their incredible artistic talents to Kirby's magnus opus. We need not wait any longer as this zero issue gives us the flavor that will permeate this monumental undertaking.
There is potential greatness here and this series could be the next great collectable item for it touches issues that have been communicated in different popular media for some time: close encounters of the third kind.
It is very interesting that Ross/Busiak have used Voyager 10 as the trigger for the close encounter and a modified pictorial representation of mankind and Earth's place in the cosmos for Kirby well understood humanity's history of discovery & conquest. Why would aliens be any different? This concern has recently been echoed by luminaries such as Stephen Hawking.
