I picked this book up a month after it came out, read it and I have to say, I didnt enjoy it as much as I thought I would!
But let me explain, because what I just said isnt entierly all true.
I spent $3.99 on this issue (for me was £2.50) so this is extra money we're talking here compared to your standard $2.99 comic book. So naturally I was expecting something worthwhile, something which the usual $2.99 comic books didnt have.
Unfortunatly, I didnt really feel as if I was getting anything particulary amazing here.
The story was far too slow paced, good, but slow paced for a single issue and most of the pages were taken up with artwork and huge panels.
Having said that about the artwork, I will have to say that the artwork in this book is some of the most graphic and most detailed artwork Ive seen for a long time, so that aspect of it I genuinly enjoyed!
There was a real lack of dialouge here in this issue, the only real dialouge was at that intro scene when Josh was watched CNN. Otherwise there wasnt much dialouge until a bit near the end when Josh was explaining what he felt was wrong with society today.
But ya know, this is a great idea for a book and I am thinking about getting the second issue.
I just think Warren Ellis has a really great idea here, he just needs to work his magic and get it rolling.
