No Hope For HOPE!

Do I really have to continue purchasing this book to learn the fate of mutant kind? Please say it ain't so!

The character Hope pushes my buttons in all the wrong ways. In fact, I'm surprised that nobody on the island of Utopia has punched her in the face yet! She is arrogant, ignorant and lacks respect for the years and years of struggle that mutants have had to endure. She is in no position to lecture Xavier, threaten Cyclops or judge Magneto. I don't care what her experiences were with Cable, as a seventeen year old, she needs to sit down and shut up!

This entire issue is dedicated to Hope walking around the island telling people off. So once again, the book accomplishes nothing. We are five issues in and all that Kieron Gillen has established is that Hope is a brat and her lights are mindless zombies. This reminds a lot of another character from an X-storyline in the 90's. Quentin Quire acted much the same as Hope. But...he was a villain!

The sad thing is that indicators in this book hint at there being a spike in new mutant appearances. This in itself does not mark the problem though. The problem lies in the fact that it seems as though Hope has to "save" all of these new mutants by touching them. Unfortunately, it seems as though I have to follow Hope if I want to keep up with the current mutant expansion storyline.

I hope I'm wrong, because Hope sucks!
