Vol. #2 of Ms. Marvel ended on the same foot it began with as Ms. Marvel just want to be her best (holy Doll House).
If you have been here since issue one then you will see nothing new here and you may in part not know how to feel about where the book leaves you.
The build up to the final show down between Ms. Marvel and Mystique leads to an only mildly interesting exchange of verbal banter. Playing the role of the Bond villain Mystique spill the beans about her fake Mar-Vell revealing that he is nothing more than a Skrull clone left behind after the invasion. In fact he is attempt number 96 to clone Mar-Vell and finding him all alone Mystique had shifted to look like Ms. Marvel to bend him to her will.
His end is less than satisfying as they rehash his end by giving him the same end that Ms. Marvel had seemed to suffer. Mar-Vell Clone boy becomes enraged and his powers run wild. Knowing what is about to happen Ms. Marvel latches onto him and races towards the heavens to prevent the impending explosion from taking out the city of Seattle.
In the end we are left with Ms. Marvel having yet another bonding moment days later with Spider-Man as she tells him of the events of the last few days.
Ms. Marvel again states that it is her goal to be the best hero she can be and that only striving to be her best will do.
Mystique gets away with out getting a whooping and IMO I want to know where this Ms. Marvel and Spider-Man thing could have gone. Having him there at the end was a nice little addition to the mix as you see two people who normally bicker actually leaning on each other a bit.
Overall the art alone would give this book 3 stars. I just wanted more I personally from the end. I am glad that we get basically the Ms. Marvel version of "With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility" message as it is what gave the series such a strong start.
