From a personal note I can say that I do not beleive I ever picked up a Sgt. Rock war title that did not have something inside to make it worth my while. Alot of the stories were written by Robert Kanigher, but there were many exceptions. A perfect example would be the "Darkest Night" story from this issue. This eleven page story had a double agent, german soldiers capturing Easy Company, an old European family castle and a "werewolf". Everything clicked and fell into place as you read the story. From the first few panels you knew what attacked American and German soldiers, but nothing was ever said in the story until 3 pages from the end. The story finale was awesome as the "werewolf" Temmer took his vengance on the German soldiers as he fell to his "death". I word it this way because we never really know if he was a "Lycanthropic" wearing a wolf pelt or if he truly was a cursed werewolf. Artwork was awesome by Frank Redondo, but as always I can appreciate that his work could be better if he would allow someone to ink/finish his work i.e. like Chua or Colon. So don't just blindly look over those war comics....there are jewels to be had in the many issues that are available.
