So here it is at long last, the mini series Ive been looking forward to for so long, Spider-Man: Noir!
I was so excited when I saw the previews for this book a few months back on newsarama, that I told myself "this seems awesome, you should totally buy this!".
So today was that special day when the first issue of Spider-Man: Noir was released and I made sure I had my copy put aside!
First imperssions when I actually got hold of this book was that it felt incredibly light and as if it only had about 10 pages in it. But once you get into it, there is a lot of story there, an aweful lot of damn good story!
The story itself is set prior to the time Peter got his super spider powers, just after the death of Uncle Ben(accept for a little section in the introduction which was a look into the future I suppose).
Without spoiling anything here, in this first issue, we see some great introduction to the characters involved in the stories plot (some surprising faces pop up) and the plot itself is being set in stone as to Peter's motivations to bring justice to the New York.
I loved how this had been written mainly because it so very political. Now I am no fan of politics making a big impact in my comics, Id rather they stayed out of them as much as they can, but it had been handled very well here! Major congratulations and respect from me to David Hine here!
All in all, its a very well written first issue to what looks like is going to be an altogther outstanding little series!
Now, the main thing I love about this series is the time period it is set in.. the 1930s! Everyone knows that this is the perfect setting to tell a really good crime drama story, which is exactly what this is!
This is a great drama crime story!
I love that 1930s crime atmosphere, and it is portrayed perfectly here, so much that I got a real amount of enjoyment reading this and looking at the art (which was very good also, very very good infact).
If youre looking for a really great crime drama, detective kinda book set in the awesome 1930s, with a superhero theme, then this is for you!
It was outstanding!
