I had low expectations coming into this series because most alternate reality stories really just don't peak my interest. However, as a fan of The Punisher I figured it was worth a shot. I must say the story has thus far proved to be fascinating. Maberry has done a good job maintaining Frank's charater traits, even though the story is set outside of the Marvel 616 universe. The art is not overly impressive, but it's easy to follow and captures the apocalyptic feel pretty well. There's some obvious similarites to Marvel Zombies, which Maberry has written for, but this series is less quirky and takes a more serious approach with Frank Castle as the hero. I find it interesting to see which super heroes are still alive and being hunted by Castle, a man whose only power is an immunity to this highly contagious disease. There's a couple of surprises in this story that I think will keep fans of the Punisher entertained. Especially while we're waiting for Franken-castle to return to normal.
The bi-weekly schedule works well because the story is still fresh in your mind when the next issue arrives. This limited series may end up being a fun addition to your collection.
