Can someone please get Jeph Loeb on the line?
Look, I know Mr. Loeb isn't exactly winning any fans over with his current run on Marvel's Rulk (or is it Hulk?) storyline, but remember the terrific "
Hush" story that started back in #608? That was the last time in my opinion Batman WAS Batman. The art was great and the story was incredible.
DC continues it's
downhill spiral with their latest issue of Batman #684, and there's, well, no Batman to be found. Oh, Nightwing's there, following up his 2-part adventure, but if you want the skinny on what's going to be the fate for the
Caped Crusader, you're in the wrong cover title (
SEE FINAL CRISIS #6).
The one redeeming quality of this book is the fact that RIP is over.
Alex Ross is churning out cover after cover to a storyline that honestly is probably the worst faux-Batman story I've ever read.
My best guess is DC will throw the R.I.P. storyline in Hardcover with a gorgeous Ross Cover, and people who haven't picked up a Batman book in years will see "
BATMAN R.I.P." and be intrigued. They'll slide their
Books-a-Million rewards card without even thinking about it, take it home, and prepare for a trip back to the days of the
1990's when Bane was breaking Batbacks, and Batman shot...um...
'Bat-daggers' out of his wrist gauntlets.
And then, they too will say..."
WTF"?
"
MR. LOEB?!?! Oh thank heaven I found you..."
Sorry guys, I
HAVE to take this.
