Powell felt confined at Avatar, and soon returned with a venture in self-publishing under the name Albatross Exploding Funny Books. With his content ranging from childish bathroom humor to powerful social commentary, always unapologetic, always humorous, Powell gained followers and a deal from Dark Horse, who still publishes The Goon. And Dark Horse has not managed to put Powell on a leash (if they ever attempted it), so his non-PC rampage continues.
