First off, let me just say that no matter what I say here, no ammount of words could ever express my sheer love for this single issue!
This comic book was outstanding and is probably (like the title says) my comic of the year!
It has been so long since Mike Mignola as drawn anything himself, so to suddenly get a one shot story drawn and written by the man himself was such a delight!
The writting was stupidly awesome here, I dont know how Mignola manages to do it, but the charaterisation of Hellboy was amazing.. even with such short coversation and dialogue between characters.
I guess that when youve got the guy who created Hellboy, writting and drawing a Hellboy book though, you're going to get THE best characterisation around!
The story itself set in Portugual in 1992, is about Hellboy being called to investigate an artist who has become 'possessed' by a being from within an old chapel. It is so good and everything is wrapped out perfectly in terms of the writting, 100% awesome!
The artwork is just beautiful as well, Mignola's artwork is so unique and its a style anyone who reads comics should be familiar with.
