The second installment of the Kick-Ass phenomenon is here, kicking, scratching, and challenging all the decency codes out there. Even though the main characters are kids, this comic is geared to a mature audience, and rightly so. Somehow Millar makes the dialogue work, it defines the comic and adds authenticity to the story.
I especially like the name of the super-heroes that are coming out of the woodwork after the exploits of Dave Lizewski as Kick-Ass. There is an honesty in both main characters; Dave with his obsessions and Mindy with her training technique and sacrifices she makes to keep her family whole. I feel that there are conflicting emotions within this character that are deep rooted and quite well illustrated in this comic.
I think the number of super-hero want-to-be will engender conflict that will serve as fuel to the explosive nature of this story as it unfolds in the coming issues. There is so much potential in this story that I believe Millar and company will have a great time developing them and us readers will enjoy experiencing.
