The recent Magnum Opus crossover was good, but wait a minute, because it gets better here!
This kicks off a new story arc for Deadpool, while still keeping links to Norman Osborn and this Dark Reign business going.
The plot for this issue without spoiling anything? Okay sure. Norman Osborn got screwed over by Deadpool, so instead of sending his Thunderbolts after him (as it failed), he sends his Dark Avengers after him to erase him from the picture for good. But here's the catch, he doesn't them
all after Deadpool. Just one. One of the Dark Avengers who has a history with Deadpool, and has even teamed up with him before (apparently, so this character claims in this issue).
And then at the end, we have a little faceoff on our hands. It's juicy and delicious for us readers, with the added beauty of art by Paco Medina, whose art has certainly improved since the start of this series.
This issue has some bits which made me laugh out loud, as do most Deadpool comics from this series.
But also, what this issue does is prove how deadly Deadpool can actually be, and how ruthless he is. If I said why and how, it would spoil a good deal of this issue alas, so I shall refrain from commenting on specifics.
But you should check this out. This was one of the better Deadpool books from this series so far in my opinion.
Daniel Way has Deadpool nailed.
One thing I will say about this issue was that it had a lot of references in the dialogue to modern internet culture and online speech. With words (or phrases) such as 'LOL', and 'Win - Fail'.
Whether I think this is a good thing or not is yet to be decided. I am okay with the occasional 'LOL' said here and there. But if words like 'LOL' and
especially 'WIN' and 'FAIL' get overused then it could get tedious.
But all in all, a good good issue.
