This is going to bring down the wrath on your's truly, but I will forget this series pretty quickly. It was very well written and the art really helped with the story telling. But I found it to be very cliché. It was the same story that has been told one thousand times over.
I know it is not good form to get down on "art" with this type of subject matter. But keep in mind this is a comic review, not a commentary on the Holocaust. I am, and have been, every bit horrified by these acts my whole life. I just thought they maybe could have taken a little bit more original view on the events. Instead, I was shown what every movie showsm. What every book tells me and what every lecture I've ever heard has ingrained in me.
I actually found the story/info at the end about Dina Gottliebova to be far more interesting than anything the main story provided. That would have made a better five issue mini series.
With all this being said though, the book as a stand alone issue within a five issue run, was very good. It just didn't pique my curiosity very much.
